Nonetheless, this is a fast phone when used on T-Mobile. Calls sounded clear through a Jawbone Era Bluetooth headset, though it was a little unreliable; I had trouble getting calls to stay in the headset, and while I could trigger voice dialing over Bluetooth, Android's built-in voice recognition never understood the number I was trying to dial.
The speakerphone gets quite loud, but it has a piercing tone at maximum volume that's uncomfortable to listen to.
The mAh battery was good for a solid 10 hours and 10 minutes of talk time. Wireless charging is useful, but not as perfect as it sounds; you still have to plug the wireless charging mat into the wall.

You can use the Nexus 4 with a standard carrier smartphone plan -- even without signing a contract. All you'll have to do is get a micro-SIM from the carrier you prefer and then contact them to activate an account. If you already have an account with one of them, you should be able to simply move the SIM card from your current phone into the Nexus 4 and be good to go.
If your current SIM card is a regular-sized SIM instead of a micro-SIM, you'll just need to go to one of the carrier's stores to swap it out; most carrier retail locations will do that at no cost if you're a current customer. That doesn't include texting and does include the usual smattering of shady surcharges; realistically, you're probably looking at a minimum of 80 bucks a month. T-Mobile's standard plans are a bit less painful but still generally less beneficial to most customers than the prepaid alternatives.
